Force touch trackpad

The huge Force Touch trackpad has all the multi-touch and gesture functions that you are used to from previous models. Thanks to pressure sensors, the MacBook Pro not only knows where, but also how hard you press. This allows many control options that conventional touchpads cannot - for example fast forwarding at different speeds during video playback or pressure-sensitive drawing.

Touch Bar: work productively and safely

This variant comes with the Touch Bar, a multi-touch bar that has been integrated into the keyboard. It reacts twice as quickly as that of the previous model and allows quick access to the most important functions. The Touch Bar also features Touch ID, a fingerprint scanner that you can use for secure authentication to unlock the device or to make online purchases. The T2 chip and “True Tone” technology are exclusive to the Touch Bar models of the MacBook Pro. With features such as secure boot functions and memory encryption, the T2 chip makes the MacBook more secure than ever. The «True Tone» technology adjusts the white balance of the screen to the color temperature of the ambient light in order to improve visual comfort.

Thunderbolt 3: Expansion made easy

The MacBook Pro has four Thunderbolt 3 ports. The Thunderbolt 3 connection is the fast-paced all-rounder among peripheral interfaces: In terms of form factor, it is identical to the current USB Type-C connection, and therefore also compatible with USB Type-C devices without any problems. Its speed, however, leaves that of other peripheral connections far behind: 83x faster than USB 2.0, 8x faster than USB 3.0 and twice as fast as Thunderbolt 2. In addition to a number of peripheral devices, you can also connect the most hardware-hungry expansions - from external graphics cards to 4K monitors.

Enjoy significantly accelerated system and program starts: As mass storage, a lightning-fast solid-state drive (SSD) provides the necessary storage space for your programs and files. The main advantages of SSDs are the fast access times and high read and write speeds that put conventional hard drives in the shade. Another advantage is that SSDs contain no moving parts. This leads to increased robustness, as no parts wear out mechanically. In addition, SSDs are absolutely noiseless.
